Academic advising is at the core of the International Affairs Program mission, and the IAFS academic advisors are a key resource for our majors throughout their program of study. If you are already an IAFS major, your advisor’s homepage is linked on the left menu: David Bailey or Bevin Gumm. We encourage you to check your advisor’s webpage regularly – these pages have walk-in hours and other helpful information.

The long-awaited IAFS major audit, while still in testing phase, is being rolled out to IAFS students!  Majors who declared since Fall 2007 can now see progress through the IAFS major along with MAPS and core on their degree audits, via myCUinfo.  For any students who declared the major before Fall 2007, you will not see the major audit and you will continue to see only overall hours, MAPS and core on your audit.

We encourage you to take a look at your audit, but please be aware that there are a number of courses that may NOT appear in the audit that we know clearly should: transfer, Study Abroad, internship, independent study, Honors thesis, and other special cases of specifically "approved" courses that do not appear on our semester schedules on the IAFS website.  We are working to correct these issues, and we will update you with relevant developments.  What your IAFS advisor would like to know is if you discover any false positives: that is, a course posted in your audit as fulfilling a requirement that is NOT correct.  (For example, if MATH 1012 appears to be fulfilling your IAFS senior seminar, which must be either IAFS 4500 or 4800!)  Feel free to send an e-mail to your IAFS academic advisor if you find specific examples like this.

This is an important, exciting move toward having an accurate working audit that integrates the IAFS major with your other degree requirements.  We thank you for your incredible patience throughout this detailed, time-consuming process, and in advance for your assistance in helping us identify any remaining false positives in the system.
